HISTORY
The Center for Career Development and Ministry is a not-for-profit, ecumenical, church-related agency working with individuals in any occupation who are facing career decisions. Clients from professional and non-professional backgrounds that range in age from pre-college to retirement have found our services helpful.
Founded by the American Baptist Churches, USA to provide career development services for its personnel, the Center opened in 1968 as the Center for the Ministry. In 1972, the New England Career Development Center was established to provide services for the personnel of other religious denominations. Each center also served non-church professionals representing a broad range of occupations. These two Centers were reorganized into a single operation that became the present Center for Career Development and Ministry in 1982. The Center was incorporated as an independent, not-for-profit religious organization in 1994.
Each Center staffperson is a trained therapist. Each also has specialized training in career counseling and holds a doctoral degrees in his/her respective field as well as extensive experience in pastoral ministry, executive and/or educational work. The Center's consultants are licensed psychologists familiar with the field of career counseling. |
